Founder

Rica Tan

is a music connoisseur and entrepreneur with a serious case of wanderlust. First introduced to piano as a 5-year old, she immediately fell in love with the vast world of music and grew to appreciate its unique ability to transcend languages, cultures and characters to communicate love and sprinkle magic straight to every hearts and souls.

With over 15 years of singing, writing, playing and producing, Rica has made music her life’s PASSION. Before co-founding Luminous by Etude with partner Andreas Adriawan, Rica first founded Etude Entertainment: an award-winning luxury wedding entertainment company based in Atlanta, GA. With over 400 weddings already under her belt, she is an expert in creating elevated ambiance through music and is beyond excited to expand her reach to Southern California through Luminous by Etude.

Rica self-wrote two albums and three singles, in which she collaborated with respected artists and producers such as “Sweet Home Alabama” producer Bruce Bennett, Sugarland Music Director Scott Patton, Indonesia’s most celebrated Christian artist Sidney Mohede as well as GMA Dove Award-winning artist Seth Condrey. Her single “If I Can’t Praise You” featuring Seth Condrey, won 2nd place in a fan-voted song contest held by Atlanta’s Christian radio station Victory 91.5 FM. She has also had the pleasure of sharing a stage with Grammy-nominated singer Lauren Daigle and The Voice Season 2 contestant Chris Cauley.

In the midst of her busyness, Rica is a firm believer in investing in the next generation of music aficionados. She started teaching private piano lessons in high school and is still taking some students today in her free time. In 2017, she taught piano at the esteemed Jan Smith Music Studio owned by “Mama Jan” - Grammy-nominated producer and the legendary voice coach of Usher and Justin Bieber. Currently, she also ministers at Gwinnett Church as a worship leader. She credits Jesus, her Prince Charming husband Devin, and LOTS of coffee (in that order) to fuel her creative brain and productivity.

CoFounder Luminous

Andreas Adriawan

is a serial perfectionist, noodles lover and versatile guitarist who refuses to be boxed into a specific genre. While he counted funk as his musical root, he also ventured into the realm of jazz, blues and rock - which developed into his current musical flavor: FUSION.

Before co-founding Luminous by Etude with Rica Tan, Andre started his journey in his home country of Indonesia. Initially a self-taught guitar player, he enrolled in the country’s most prestigious music school, The Purwacaraka Music School, in order to broaden his musical horizon. Post graduation, he was offered to sign under EMI’s Indonesian branch, but had to turn it down at the request of his family who were moving to the United States.

In the United States, he formed a band called “Temporary Citizens” with whom he released an EP album in 2009. Out of his desire to be free from a group’s specific genre, Andre then chose to be a session player collaborating with various local bands in California including Isaiah Olsen Band (Pop, Country), House of Praise Band (Christian Rock, Spanish), The Current (Christian Contemporary), Charlie Duran (Smooth Jazz) and Reza Saleh Band (Jazz, Funk). In 2017, he released his first solo single, “Lesdudis”, also produced by Bassist/Composer and frequent collaborator Reza Saleh.

Currently, Andre serves as a guitarist for Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, CA. Prior to joining this church, Andre was a Music Director at another church for 7 years.

As co-founder of Luminous, Andre is ready to bring his multi-faceted background and deep passion for various genres to craft the most compelling sounds catered to each event.

An extrovert with introvert tendencies, Andre enjoys long walks in nature and believes that there’s nothing a warm, steamy bowl of noodles can’t fix.
